The poetry and legacy of Rumi

For many years I have been fascinated and enthused by Rumi's ecstatic mystical poetry — as well as by his more sober writing, such as his remarkably prescient ideas about the sequence of emergence of the different species (E. H. Whinfield, tr., Masnavi [sic], pp. 216-17). This spirit lives on the music and practices of the order of Mevlevi dervishes. I have brought this music and Rumi's poetry together in a setting for voice and percussion (a pair of drums with different tones):-
